Oak Wood Poncho

Tuesday, September 20th, 2016

Putting away the last remains of Summer and transitioning into the first frosty mornings of Fall may get just a wee bit easier with a brand new project on the needles.  This is a season for building up warmth one layer at a time and ponchos are the ideal cover up.  What makes a poncho such a Fall favorite is the ease of movement, it lacks the restrictive nature of a jacket or coat, simply by having no sleeves.   There is plenty of room for layering underneath and it is really as cosy and warm as throwing on a scarf or shawl.

Hot off the needles, our newest design, Oak Wood Poncho, is knit in one rectangular piece featuring an airy lace pattern and trendy boho fringe detail as the finishing touch.  From our fabulous Fall line up, we have picked Baby Llama Lino as the yarn of choice, lightweight and bouncy on the needles, with an innovative ribbon-like construction that appears translucent at its core.  Look for all ten harvest hues at your lys this month.

Fall/Winter Preview 2016

Monday, May 9th, 2016

If there is one thing that really gets the needles clicking lickety-split, its the Fall/Winter Preview at the Diamond Yarn Open House.  Taking place each year just as the tulips and daffodils start to bloom, this one-stop sneak peek event offers retailers across the country an opportunity to browse the sample garments on display, check out the next generation of yarns, and flip through design catalogues.

Here are some of the exciting highlights from the Diamond Luxury Collection

My fine-feathered friend…. Baby Llama Lino is an absolute stunner, with its flat ribbon-like appearance and airy inner mesh, this is a yarn that is delicate and lightweight yet it comes equipped with a surprising bit of resilience too.  Available after Summer’s last hurrah in ten elegant shades.

Tiny bubbles…. just part of the charm of this exquisite new yarn which blends superwash and fine merino together for a super springy consistency.  Eclipse is on the horizon for fall projects and is dyed in an irresistible palette.

Plump up the volume…. with Ecstasy,  the softest, and squishiest of all!  Retailers had trouble letting go of this one, a colossal-sized superfine merino that knits up quickly on 15 mm needles and creates a cushy, cosy texture.  Col. 131 (shown above).

Good things come in small packages…. this classic beauty may have been sitting shyly in the corner but it certainly stole the limelight.  Look for Cardiff Classic to hit the store shelves in early Fall, a pure cashmere in a dk weight with a whopping forty-three shades which could prove to be too mind-boggling.  Accompanied by Cardiff Small and Cardiff LargeSilver, Brown, Neve and Corteccia (shown above).

Tickle your toes…. with Tiptoe, a new sock yarn that will put extra pep in your step.  Boldly-coloured in eight fabulous long dye repeats, this blend of superwash wool and nylon is well-suited for socks, shawls, scarves, wrist warmers and hats too.  Col. 314 (shown above).
