Gorgeous by Sirdar

Wednesday, January 4th, 2017

As the snow piles up all around us it gives even more reason to stay indoors and practice what the Danish refer to as ‘hygge’ (pronounced hoo-gah) meaning to surround yourself in a cosy state of comfort and well-being.   Its not a new concept, after all don’t we naturally tend to hibernate at this time of year? Knitting with big and bulky yarns is also part of this current trend, the thicker the better, to enjoy the slow and steady movement of the needles while generating instant warmth.  This week we shine the spotlight on a new yarn from Sirdar, that is creating lots of knitworthy buzz this winter.

What Can I Knit Tonight?

Saturday, October 19th, 2013

This is a familiar question asked by knitters, “What Can I Knit Tonight?” and British designer, Jo Allport has provided the answers in her first book of designs, thirty fun projects featuring the rustic artistry that is the beauty of Noro yarns.  Motivated by her love of knitting, an interest in trying new stitches and most of all– instant results, Jo realized she was not alone.  After discussing the idea with fellow knitters, she came up with a range of projects to complete in a day, an evening or a weekend, all fully functional and fashionable as cold weather accessories, gift ideas, and home décor items.
